You’re committed to staying consistent, even when life gets busy.
You want clear, practical guidance—not just more material to memorize.
You learn best with accountability, structure, and encouragement.
Have taken the exam before, and you’re ready to approach it differently this time.
Appreciate a tutor who is warm, direct, and knows what it’s like to be in your shoes.
This might not be the right fit if:
You’re hoping for a quick fix without learning the material.
You’re not in a place to commit to a regular study routine.
You’re looking for a tutor to just give you the answers.
If any of this sounds like you, I’d love to help you feel more confident, prepared, and in control of your study process.
Tutoring Policies & Procedures

1. Who I Serve
I work with students who are:
Motivated and ready to take their studying seriously.
Committed to consistent attendance and communication.
Respectful of time, boundaries, and policies.
2. Booking Sessions
New Clients: Must complete the Tutoring Interest Form before scheduling. A response and approval are required before booking. You must have at least 30 days before your exam to be taken on as a client.
Returning Clients: May book sessions directly through my calendar link.
If no slots are available on the calendar, I am fully booked. You may reach out to be placed on a cancellation waitlist.
It is encouraged to have an idea of how frequently you would like to meet during your first session.
If you would like a recurring spot, it can be blocked off for you depending on my availability. If you do not have a recurring time slot, sessions are first-come, first-served.
Availability for the upcoming month will be released on the 3rd Monday of each month.
3. Rates & Payment
Rates are *$75 for the first session and $60 for the following sessions unless otherwise stated.
If you have not had a session within the last 2 months, you will be subject to the current rate at the time of rebooking.
Paypal invoices will be sent to you the day before your session.
Payment is due the morning of your session and must be paid before you join the session, or the session will be cancelled.
Overdue balances will result in all future sessions being cancelled until your balance is paid. There is no guarantee that your spot will still be available after the session has been cancelled.
Sessions are non-refundable. You may reschedule with proper notice (see cancellation policy).
*Rates are subject to change periodically and will go into effect for new clients and inactive clients.
4. Cancellations & Rescheduling
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
Cancellations and reschedules under 24 hours or no-shows will be forfeited and non-refundable.
If I need to cancel within 24 hours of a session, you will be given a free late cancellation/reschedule waiver to use in the future.
Frequent late cancellations and reschedules will result in your being discharged.
No shows without communication will result in immediate discharge. In the event of an emergency, please communicate with me as soon as possible, and we can discuss continuing sessions.
5. Session Expectations
All tutoring clients are required to have an active subscription to CounselingExam.com. This resource is essential for our work together, and sessions will not be scheduled without proof of an active subscription.
Come prepared with your materials, questions, and goals for the session.
Sessions will focus on skill-building, understanding concepts, and strategic exam preparation.
Disruptive behavior or repeated lack of engagement may result in discontinued services.
Please join from your computer and with your camera on, as you will need to share your screen.
For your safety and to maintain focus, sessions may not be attended while driving or operating a vehicle. Joining a session while driving will result in the session being ended and counted as a missed session.
6. Communication
Please use email for all tutoring communication.
I aim to respond within 24–48 hours during business days.
Communication outside business hours may be answered during the next available window.
7. Inactive Clients & Re-engagement
If you have not booked a session in over 2 months, your client file will be considered.
Rebooking after inactivity will require completing a brief re-intake, and you will be charged at the current session rate.
8. Confidentiality & Respect
All client information in session is confidential and used solely for educational purposes.
I expect mutual respect and professionalism in all interactions.
Facebook group posts and online reviews are not confidential and will be shared with others.
9. Group Sessions
You must have your own group members to receive group support. Groups will not be formed for you.
A maximum of 4 clients can be enrolled for a session to run.
Each group member will need to have an individual session with me first before the group starts.
Group rates are $50 per person, per session.

This will depend on your testing style and your work-life balance. I typically recommend at least 3 months of study time with at least 5 hours a week of independent study time in the first month. Then continue to increase study times as you get closer to your exam date.
-
This amount will vary depending on how close your exam date is. Early on, I would recommend once a week or every other week if you have at least 3 months before your exam. 30 days from your exam, I suggest 2-3 sessions a week.
I have found that clients who come to tutoring regularly have had the most success.
A minimum of 30 days before your exam is needed to be taken on as a tutoring client. Eight weeks minimum is needed to receive a study calendar.
-
Yes, but if you do not have a recurring spot, sessions are first-come, first-served.
If it has been longer than 2 months since you’re last session, you will be considered inactive and will be charged the current rate for future sessions. -
Unfortunately, my calendar is accurate, and I do not have any more openings for this month. As I still see therapy clients, I only have a limited number of spots available for tutoring. Please email me if you would like to be notified of cancellations.
Session preference is given to clients with a recurring spot. The remaining sessions are first-come, first-served.
If you would like a recurring spot, please let me know during our session, and we can work together to find a spot.
Session availability for the following month will be posted on the 3rd Monday of each month. -
Sessions are 50 minutes. You may request longer sessions if you would like, but this is dependent on my schedule availability.
-
Depending on your session frequency and the subject areas you are struggling with the most, time will be split between practice question reviews and concept breakdowns.
-

Passing scores aren’t state-dependent! The range I have seen is 59-66, but you know the required score for your version until after you’ve finished the exam. Here’s how the NBCC describes their scoring process:
“Within the 130–150 questions on each form of the NCMHCE, 100 of the questions are scored for the purpose of determining whether the candidate meets the minimum criterion (passing) score for that test form. Each of these 100 questions count for one score point; thus, the maximum possible score a candidate can achieve is 100. The cut score (minimum passing score) for the NCMHCE is calculated through a standard-setting process, which requires a committee of subject matter experts to review and evaluate each question on the examination in order to determine the passing score that would be expected from a minimally qualified candidate (MQC).
A process of statistical equating is used to determine the cut score for each version of the examination. Statistical equating ensures fairness to all candidates by associating the cut score on a test form with the difficulty level of the items within the form. To ensure fairness, the cut score of each examination version will vary slightly” (Candidate Handbook for State Licensure National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination™ (NCMHCE®), page 20)
